ROLE: Systems Sales Engineer

The primary responsibility of this role is to drive sales for the Amotech “Systems” Segment (in particular, partial discharge testing instruments, online monitoring systems, Dissolved gas analysis and further products to come) primarily in Kenya but additionally for other regions where Amotech Africa has presence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Developing and implementing sales strategies to achieve targets.
  2. Conducting activity planning, forecasting, and opportunity management.
  3. Handling price negotiations, tender submissions, and contract discussions.
  4. International travel for customer visits, internal meetings, and training.
  5. Providing technical sales support, including product demonstrations and troubleshooting.
  6. Securing, retaining, and growing key accounts through proactive relationship-building.
  7. Attending trade fairs, conferences, and industry events to promote solutions.
  8. Delivering informative presentations to clients and stakeholders.
  9. Building and maintaining a database of prospective clients (leads, contacts, opportunities).
  10. Meet quotas for cold calls, follow-ups, appointments, and client meetings.
  11. Maintaining a healthy sales pipeline using CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
  12. Reporting on sales metrics (conversion rates, pipeline growth, revenue forecasts).
  13. Working with back-office/inside sales, marketing, and service teams to align efforts.
  14. Supporting marketing initiatives (campaigns, webinars, technical articles).
  15. Coordinating with service/repair teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  16. Providing regular updates on sales performance, KPIs, and market trends.
  17. Collaborating with leadership on long-term business plans and growth strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 3 years in sales with a focus on testing and measurement in power systems.
  3. Strong understanding of Power Automation and Control (PAC) for substations.
  4. Experience in high voltage testing of power assets (transformers, motors, generators, switchgear, cables).
  5. Experience with GE and Megger Grid solutions is added advantage
  6. Familiarity with grid solutions in industrial applications.
  7. Passion for grid solutions technology and industry trends.
  8. Value-selling skills – ability to align solutions with customer ROI and financial justifications.
  9. Understanding of project economics (CAPEX/OPEX, payback periods, etc.).
  10. Strategic thinking to meet sales quotas and KPIs.
  11. Strong social skills, enjoy networking and relationship-building.
  12. Active listening and ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  13. Multicultural communication proficiency.
  14. Presentation skills (clear, persuasive, and professional).
  15. Self-motivated with a proactive, decision-making approach.
  16. Team player open to feedback and continuous growth.
  17. Multitasking ability in a dynamic sales environment.
